Cork is technically the bark of cork oak tree. These trees grow in Mediterranean area such as Spain, Italy, France, Morocco. Portugal for example has more than 720.000 hectares of cork trees.
Cork oak can live on average 150 to 200 years, and every 9 years there is a harvest when bark is stripped from the tree.
It’s a very interesting and unique material with its durability, softness, water resistance, “green” source and sustainability. And practicality, too!
